The Chief of Defence Space Administration, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Abdullahi Shinkaffi has commended NPC for its remarkable achievements in data generation, especially the national geospatial data repository.

Air Vice Marshal Shinkaffi stated this when he led members of his team on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra at the NPC Headquarters in Abuja.

He expressed happiness that the National Population Commission has achieved such a great feat for the country, adding that geospatial data will help security agencies plan and address security challenges in the country.

However, Shinkaffi demonstrated the Defence Space Administration's interest in collaborating with the Commission to improve data integrity for evidence-based planning and national development.

Specifically, the Chief of Defence Space Administration highlighted possible areas of interest for collaboration, including information sharing through technology integration and capacity building.

In response, NPC Chairman, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra expressed gratitude for the visit, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation between NPC and the Defence Space Administration.

As a strategic next step, the NPC Chairman proposed the immediate constitution of a joint technical committee to implement the collaboration swiftly.

He further underscores the potential for NPC and the Defence Space Administration to be formidable allies in the fight against insecurity in the country by providing data for planning.

NPC in preparation for the upcoming Population and Housing Census has carried out Enumeration Area Demarcation in all the 774 LGAs of Nigeria and in the process captured the geo-coordinates of all buildings in Nigeria.
