NPC CHAIRMAN INSPECTS NEW BORNO OFFICE AFTER FLOOD DEVASTATION

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa, led a delegation to inspect the newly established NPC Borno State Office in Maiduguri, following severe flooding that had previously damaged the former office.

Today, the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa, led a delegation to inspect the newly established NPC Borno State Office in Maiduguri, following severe flooding that had previously damaged the former office.
Accompanying Hon. Kwarra were Director-General, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun, Director, Vital Registration Department, Mr. Rasheed Towobola, Acting Director, Public Affairs Department, Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba, Special Assistant to the Chairman Isiyaku Alhaji Husaini, Deputy Director/Protocol Mr. Azeez Amoo, and other officials.
The inspection followed Hon. Kwarra’s earlier visit a month ago, during which he assessed the flood's impact and assured the NPC Federal Commissioner, Borno State, Barr. Isa Audu Buratai, and the staff that the Commission would facilitate their transition to a temporary office space.
In his address, Hon. Kwarra commended the proactive measures taken by Barr. Buratai and praised the resilience of the staff in overcoming challenges posed by the flooding.
Director-General, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun highlighted the exceptional performance of the Borno State Office, particularly in birth registration coverage, which recently earned Barr. Buratai an Exemplary Award from UNICEF.
Welcoming the delegation, Barr. Isa Audu Buratai expressed gratitude for the Chairman’s support, which he credited for the successful establishment of the new office.
NPC Borno State Director, Mallam Haruna Isa Ibrahim acknowledged Hon. Kwarra's role in securing increased salaries for staff through census allowance.
Meanwhile, the NPC Chairman will also attend the 65th National Council on Health meeting at Muhammadu Indimi Centre, University of Maiduguri tomorrow, where he will present a proposal on integrating electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (e-CRVS) into healthcare services.
