The Chairman of National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa, today, 3rd February 2025, officially welcomed the newly sworn-in Federal Commissioner for Ondo State, Hon. Mrs. Olukemi Victoria Iyantan, at the NPC's Headquarters in Abuja.

Mrs. Iyantan took the oath of office earlier today, administered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, before the commencement of the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of 2025 held at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

Recall that Mrs. Iyantan's appointment by President Tinubu in 2024 was later confirmed by the Senate on 26th September of the same year. She succeeds Prince Garvey Iyantan, the former Federal Commissioner for Ondo State, whose tenure concluded in 2023.

In his welcoming remarks, NPC Chairman, Hon. Kwarra expressed confidence in Mrs. Iyantan's ability to contribute meaningfully to the Commission's objectives, emphasizing the importance of accurate population data in national development.

Mrs. Iyantan's appointment brings the number of the NPC's Federal Commissioners to 35 with positions for Yobe and Nasarawa States remain vacant. The Yobe State position became vacant following the passing of Mai Aliyu Muhammed on 21st April 2024 while His Excellency Dr. Silas Ali Agara (Nasarawa) was appointed Director-General of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) by President Tinubu on 13th July 2024.

Present during Mrs. Iyantan's presentation of her letter of appointment to the NPC Chairman was the NPC Director-General, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Mrs. Olukemi Victoria Iyantan on her appointment.
